Support for Military Families at Journey Coaching & Counseling

Military families experience unique situations that can generate stress, anxiety, depression, fear and grief among the family members. Especially unique and stressful are overseas deployments. These deployments affect everyone in the family and cause families to adjust to difficult situations. Adjustments can sometimes be positive bringing people closer together.

At times, adjustments are not productive and do not serve the family well. They can take the form of depression, anxiety, tension, anger or stress. Children sometimes react to these stressors by demonstrating school behavior problems, trouble with peers or experimenting with drugs or alcohol.

Reunification

Long anticipated and planned for, reunification is often a stressful process. The family has taken on new roles and the returning member feels left out. Sometimes the returning member is aloof and disengaged. It feels like the family is walking on eggshells or turning inside out to keep peace in the family.

There is hope to bring a sense of peacefulness and joy back into the family. Karen Weaver, our Military Family Specialist will work together with you to gain a more helpful understanding of the complicated family dynamics involved with being a Military Family. She will work with you to learn new skills and empower you to make changes. Together, you will work to bring back a strong sense of connection to your family.
